Question

What can I do to avoid images like this being rejected due to similar content?

I just had this image rejected for ‘Similar content in our collection’, but I can’t find any images like this, at least not from this place (Pukara de Quitor at San Pedro de Atacama, a well-known tourist destination). I’m struggling to understand the rejection reason, so I am at a loss as to what to do to avoid this going forward. Could it have been the chosen title/keywords? I thought I was being specific enough... Many thanks!

    Cross gives 7.6 million results

    https://stock.adobe.com/search?k=cross

    Steps gives 6 million results.

    https://stock.adobe.com/search?k=steps

    That’s what you’re competing with.

Thanks Nancy, but that’s not useful. I wasn’t competing with ‘cross’ or ‘steps’, but with ‘Cross monument overlooking Atacama Desert with Licancabur volcano near San Pedro de Atacama Chile’ which, if you search, will return “We couldn’t find any all results for …” (sic)

    Actually you are.

Those are the prominent shapes that AI “sees” and flags for “similar content.”

I have no workaround other than camouflaging those similar shapes.

Or try submitting to another service.

    Hey @cmp_2018

When it comes to similar content rejection, it has to be something distinctly original and different.
consider popping your image into the stock site 1st and see what comes up… You may need to scroll through 2 or 3 pgs.

    Similar Image on Adobe Stock

Put your keywords in and see what comes up as well when searching by image.
You may want to ask do a google search or check Google Trends to see how often your keyword is being searched for online.

    Cheers

    Nate

It’s possible that the moderator selected the wrong rejection reason, I think it should have been rejected for quality issues. The text at the top if the monument is blurry; it should be sharp enough to read.

Thanks Jill - what I uploaded here is a low resolution version of the original, exported at 80% quality to reduce size; the original is sharp with legible text. Still, it’s helpful to know that there may have been other reasons for the rejection.

Rejection due to similar works can apply not only to the asset's content but also to its title and keywords.

For artwork, a property release may also be required.

Register only after obtaining permission from the creator.

Many thanks - this is quite helpful! I guess I will have to pay a lot more attention to titles/keywords going forward. It’s a lot of work though, so I’m wondering if it’s worth the hassle...
