Hi guys what is the purpose of a CSV?

Is it basically a ledger to keep track of submissions?

Excuse my ignorance, if I do a CSV I don't have to fill in the metadata on the page when I submit an image.

The CSV file contains the metadata. You have to fill out the metadata there.

It's thought to prepare mass uploading of assets. You prepare the metadate for each image comfortably on your couch and can upload and submit tons of pictures in a few clicks.

This Help page describes what a CSV file is used for. It doesn't include metadata, but it does include titles and keywords.

It's just a file format nothing more or less to it unless we add context to it as to what you want to know specifically. Let's just start with what made you ask this, probably then we could discuss more on the topic.

On this site when submitting images there is an upload CSV. I understand the metadata is in this type of format

"file name", "short description", 'keywords", "country" etc.

Do you guys do this for every image? or only for images that are submitted?

Have you posted in the correct forum? You've posted in the InDesign forum.

However, your question seems to be related to Adobe Stock. Is that the case?

It's a file format for storing data. However as this article points out, it is not entirely standardized.
