Question

Why are unusual AI images rejected as similar content?

Hello everyone,

I have noticed a recurring pattern in the review of my AI-generated images. Some submissions are accepted within the first few days, while many others are subsequently rejected as "Similar Content."

I carefully select my images before uploading and try to avoid repetitive compositions. Nevertheless, even unusual concepts, such as an elderly couple having fun in the snow with two donkeys and pink inflatable flamingos, receive this rejection.

I have attached an example of an image that was recently rejected for this reason.

I would like to understand what "Similar Content" actually means in these cases.

Is the comparison based on images already available in the Adobe Stock collection, previously submitted images from my own portfolio, or broader similarities in subjects and composition?

Has anyone else noticed a pattern in which submissions remaining in review for more than approximately three days are more likely to be rejected?

I would appreciate any experiences or insights from fellow contributors.

Thank you!

Thank you all for your replies and for taking the time to look at my image!

I understand the comments about the proportions and composition. The image is intentionally humorous and absurd, with the seniors being pulled through the snow rather than riding the donkeys.

My main concern, however, is the rejection reason "Similar Content." I have received this rejection for images with quite different subjects and compositions, and I am trying to understand how similarity is assessed.

I also appreciate your observations about review times. It is interesting to hear that other contributors have noticed different patterns.

Thank you again for sharing your experiences and opinions!

Some similar content rejections are a mystery to us all. If you wish to try submitting the image again, you can, but I suspect it will (or should be) rejected for quality issues. As pointed out in previous replies, the perspective is confusing and the legs are disproportionate in size.

    Hi @foto-aldente

To avoid similar content refusals, “Tailor titles and keywords to reflect each submission's unique attributes. Reusing identical metadata for similar content can lead to refusals.”

“Similarity extends beyond identical compositions. Adobe Stock considers content too similar when submissions contain the following features:

    • Subject and composition: The same subject photographed from slightly different angles or distances.
    • Creative treatment: Identical concepts executed with only minor variations in color, filter, or effect.
    • Series submissions: Sequential shots from the same moment or location with minimal meaningful difference.
    • Metadata patterns: Different images tagged with identical titles and keywords, suggesting they serve the same customer need.” You will find more details here.

From this information, your work is at risk of being refused for similar if you add metadata in batches.

    Best wishes
    Jacquelin

I’ve never seen any correlation between assets that get “stuck” in the review queue and then being rejected. It used to be first in, first out, but assets now appear to be sent randomly to the moderators, with new assets being reviewed same day as submitted while others appear stuck for weeks or even months in many cases.

Moderators can only select one reason for rejection. If this was rejected for similar content, it should have been quality issues. The size of the legs and feet are disproportionately small compared to couple.

The whole image is absurd. People don’t ride donkeys that way, they would fall off.

The picture posted here is absurd. I’m struggling to understand its commercial value for Stock customers.  That said, it was likely rejected for similar keywords.
