In addition to what @@MNiessenPhoto already pointed out, you need to crop better. Remove unwanted portions of buildings that are just plain disturbing.

What reasons were given?

If "technical issues"... the first one has huge fringing:

 

The second one is very unsharp, badly exposed, there is chromatic aberration and it's not level.

 

Beyond that, IMO they might have been rejected for lack of commercial attractiveness, as well.
