Hi, Sure you've been in this situation before. May you can help me understand why this image is rejected by "Lack of aesthetics or commercial appeal". Curiously I had an other rejection of similar image but in video version. Backlights are not comercial...? Thank you for your comments.

That is a difficult question.

This picture is thematically related to the area "Sailing" or "Sailing holiday", I think. What I would guess is that the selector decided that the image did not appear to him to be sellable in these areas. This is a very general justification why we can only speculate about the reason for the rejection. It is a nice and atmospheric picture I find, but maybe for the selector too "sad" for example a use for a sailing holiday advertisement, perhaps he missing the yellow setting sun in the background for an effective advertising evening atmosphere, or generally the picture was too dark for him. Or, or....

You can only speculate on that. I think a comparison with similar assumed pictures in the AS database might help you best.

Thanks V. Poth for your interesting comments. Following with your Or,Or... I Thought this image will work well not like a "Sailing Holiday" but like "Ancient Sailing" or "Vintage Salling" or a book cover for a Pirate tale. I can see assumed similar images, well, maybe not so sad or romantic but matching with the concept. About tastes there no rules.
