I don't understand why this image was rejected.  Can anyone give me any insight into it?

Hello,

In my view - although it may be a slight consideration, but your white balance can be improved a tad.

If you add a bit more warth yellow to it, it brings out the heron more and helps to make the bird a bit brighter!

So, think about your white balance and tweak that.

The whites are missing and it needs to be sharpened. Also, you should crop down. There is too much space at the top.

It looks sharp enough, but perhaps a bit underexposed.

I'm just curious as to why you think it might be underexposed.  My camera raw exposure correction was only +.40.  It seems to me that there is plenty of detail in the shadows.
