Subject: Serious Complaint About Adobe Firefly AI Performance, Credit Usage, and Unreliable Generation Quality
Dear Adobe Firefly Team,
I am writing to raise a serious complaint about the current performance and reliability of Adobe Firefly.
I have been using Firefly extensively for AI image and video generation, and my experience has become extremely frustrating. The main problem is that the different AI generation tools do not work consistently. On some days, one model may work reasonably well, while the other models perform poorly or fail to follow prompts correctly. On another day, a different model may work while the previous one becomes almost unusable.
It feels as though only one AI model works properly at a given time, while the others produce poor results, errors, or completely ignore important instructions in the prompt.
1. Extremely poor prompt adherence when using credits
The biggest issue I am experiencing is with generations that consume credits.
When I use more credits for high-quality generations such as 4K/HD outputs, I expect the system to follow my prompt accurately. Instead, the generated result frequently ignores important instructions, changes characters, changes compositions, introduces unwanted elements, or simply produces something completely different from what was requested.
This is particularly frustrating because these generations consume paid credits.
In some cases, the results generated through options that use fewer or no credits appear more usable than generations for which I have spent a significant number of credits.
That creates a serious concern: Why should users spend more credits for supposedly higher-quality generation if the prompt adherence and reliability are actually worse?
2. High number of errors and failed generations
I am also experiencing frequent errors, failed generations, unexpected results, and inconsistent output quality.
A generation can work correctly once and then fail repeatedly with essentially the same prompt and reference image.
For professional filmmaking and content creation, this level of inconsistency makes the tool extremely difficult to rely on.
3. AI models are not consistently usable
Firefly provides access to multiple AI models and generation options, but in practical use, they do not appear to provide consistent performance.
For example, one day Kling may produce acceptable results while another model performs poorly. On another day, the situation may be reversed.
If users are paying for access to multiple AI models, those models should be consistently available and reasonably reliable rather than making the experience feel like only one option works properly at a time.
4. Character and Element creation features are not delivering their promised value
The character creation and element creation features also need significant improvement.
The purpose of these tools is to help users maintain consistency and create usable production assets. However, the results often fail to maintain the intended appearance, identity, proportions, or visual continuity.
Furthermore, providing only limited model choices for certain workflows — such as having only Kling available in some situations — becomes frustrating when that model itself does not consistently follow the instructions.
5. This is especially problematic for professional users
I am not using Firefly merely for casual experimentation. I am using it for filmmaking, visual development, character creation, environments, shots, and video production.
In filmmaking, details matter.
If I specify:
-
exact character appearance
-
exact clothing
-
camera angle
-
camera movement
-
location
-
composition
-
lighting
-
environment
-
continuity
-
duration
-
specific actions
the AI should follow those instructions as closely as technically possible.
Instead, I frequently have to regenerate the same shot multiple times because the system changes things that were explicitly instructed not to change.
That results in a huge waste of both time and credits.
6. Credit system needs to be reconsidered
The current experience makes the credit system particularly frustrating.
If a generation consumes a large number of credits but does not properly follow the prompt, the user is effectively paying for failed experiments caused by the AI system's inability to follow instructions.
There should be a mechanism to protect users from losing credits when:
-
generation fails technically,
-
the system produces a corrupted/invalid result,
-
the model clearly ignores major prompt instructions,
-
or the generation fails due to an internal Firefly/model error.
What I am requesting from Adobe
I strongly request Adobe to investigate the following:
-
Improve prompt adherence significantly, especially for high-credit generations.
-
Improve consistency between different AI models.
-
Reduce failed generations and technical errors.
-
Improve character consistency and element consistency.
-
Improve reference-image adherence.
-
Improve camera movement and composition control in video generation.
-
Provide more reliable model availability instead of making certain models effectively unusable at different times.
-
Review the credit consumption system for failed or clearly unusable generations.
-
Provide users with better transparency about why a particular model is producing poor results.
-
Improve the overall reliability of Firefly before charging users significant amounts of credits for these generations.
I genuinely want to use Adobe Firefly as a professional filmmaking tool. However, the current level of inconsistency makes it extremely difficult to depend on Firefly for serious production work.
When users pay for credits, they should receive a reliable generation experience — not repeatedly spend credits trying to get the AI to follow instructions that were already clearly provided in the prompt.
I hope Adobe takes this feedback seriously and investigates the underlying technical issues rather than treating these problems as normal AI-generation limitations.
I would appreciate a clear response regarding whether Adobe is aware of these issues and what improvements are being planned.
Regards,
A frustrated Firefly user
