Question

Fill & Expand different as Image 3 in terms of image modification

Hi folks

This is my first question here and i don’t know yet how to navigate on this site, so sorry if this question has already been asked or if it’s just a dumb question.

I’ve been using Image 3 to modify my already existing landscape photos. For example if i wanted to turn my photo to look like watercolor painting i just used Quick Mask Mode > Prompt “Watercolor” and that was it. The results were more or less okay. Good enough.

Since Fill & Expand was released, the same prompt only creates a layer of watercolor paint on white surface. It doesn’t modify my photo at all.

I’ve tried the “Turneresque” prompt to make my photos look like a painting of J.M.W. Turner and it just created an image of god knows what. Image 3 creates a slightly Turneresque image.

Am i doing something wrong or do i have to switch to Image 3 every time i want to use generative fill for this purpose?

Thanks in advance for your help!

PS.: I also gave the “Turneresque” prompt to Gemini 3 and the difference between the results compared to Image 3 is INSANE. Gemini 3 creates a piece of art. It’s ridiculous how much better the end results are. Too bad it uses 40 credits to generate.

    Hey @LadislausMagnus

These are good Qs.Thanks for asking.
One possible answer is to use Firefly boards.

    1. There are presets
    2.  you can upload a style the you want to use and for FF or other models to follow. Keep in mind each model is diffrent
    3. You may want to experiment w the wording of the prompt.

Homescreen 3 item down on the menu

On Firefly Boards at the bottom there are presents.

    Hope this helps

    Hi Nate

Thanks for the help. I will look into it. Don’t know anything about boards, so i will have to watch some tutorials.

    Have a great day!

    You are welcome.

    Couple of quick tips:
    1) you can bring in styles that you like and remix
Prompt  I like to use: use original image, use original image and use the style “...”

    2) Patience. There is a learning curve involved.

    3) You can search Adobe Stock for ideas for mock ups and other content

    1. Press Load within the presets: you can see the prompt and change the prompt according to your own desired outcome.
Eg.  The subject(s) sits slouched at a cluttered vanity/low coffee table

      Specify
Change to The women/ man/ with long hair sits slouched over….
      >>Tailor the preset prompt to your image and desired outcome…

    Cheers
    Nate
