Firefly deducting credits when result was "something went wrong"

Credits were generated when I pressed Generate and were NOT restored when no image was produced on three occasions today. On the final attempt, the system returned an image that was complete GARBAGE because it did not make changes requested to the previous image (because “something went wrong”). VERY disappointed with this tool. Please return my 80 credits. Thanks.

    Hi territ61090028,

I want to clarify how the Generate Image capability works so we can get better results more efficiently.

The image generator does not function as a conversational LLM. Each prompt is processed independently, which means it doesn’t retain context or “learn” from previous generations. Because of this, iterating conversationally within it (e.g., refining step-by-step across multiple prompts) won’t produce consistent or improved results.

    For best outcomes:

    • Treat each generation as a self-contained request
    • Include all necessary details, constraints, and context directly in the prompt
    • Avoid relying on prior outputs to inform the next one
    • Refer to this article to learn how to write an effective text prompt

If you're looking for a more conversational workflow, where you can iteratively refine, guide, and improve outputs over a single thread, you’ll get much better results using AI assistance (chat-based tools) instead. Those are designed to maintain context and support progressive refinement.

Using the right tool for the right type of interaction will save time and significantly improve output quality.

    Hi territ61090028
Thank you for reaching out about this.

Allow me to clarify how credits are handled in Adobe Firefly

    1. Credits are deducted IMMEDIATELY when you click Generate.

    2. If the generation fails and you see an error, the credits are automatically refunded AFTER the error occurs. This applies to all errors, there are no exceptions.

Since you were not able to find the generation in your Generation history, please provide us with the following:

    • A Full Screen recording: Please provide a single screen recording of your entire browser or application window reproducing the same workflow, which should include:

      1. Your credits balance before generation.

      2. The error occurring.

      3. The balance after the error and page refresh.

    • System Details: Specify your Operating System (OS) and Browser (including version numbers).

    • Workflow Context:

      • The full prompt you were using. (if it’s not fully visible in the recording)

      • Copies of any reference images, keyframes, or original images used.

This recording will allow our team to pinpoint what’s happening and ensure any improper deductions are addressed.

Once we receive the recording, we’ll look at it and keep you updated on the next steps.

Thanks for your explanation regarding the credits. Since I don’t possess a time machine, I cannot go back to YESTERDAY and create a screen recording of something that happened in the past. Your request is not reasonable. I won’t be wasting more time with Firefly this week. It takes far too long to create simple icon images, and half of the time, it fails with an error because “something went wrong.” I should at least get back the 20 credits for the final image, which was complete garbage because it didn’t follow the instructions and make changes to the previous image (because “something went wrong”).

    Hi territ61090028

Just to clarify one point, when we ask for a reproduction, it does mean following the same steps again (at present time) so the issue can be observed, which will help us detect if any improper deductions took place. If you’re able to repeat the same process now and still see the issue, that’s helpful, and if not, sharing the steps you took is still useful context.

On the credits side: we’re not able to issue refunds for results that didn’t meet expectations. That said, we do want to help you get better results. If you can share the prompt, settings, or workflow you used, we’ll gladly review it and suggest ways to improve the output.

Let us know if you’d like help with that.
