Question
Firefly ignores structural edits like “add a third floor”
- I’m using Adobe Firefly image-to-image to remodel a building photo.
- No matter how clearly I prompt it, Firefly will NOT perform structural changes like adding a new story to a building.
- What I am trying to do:
- Take a 2-story townhouse photo
- Add a full third floor on top
- Add windows on the new third floor
- Keep the same camera angle and neighbors
- What actually happens:
- Firefly only changes surface textures and colors
- It ignores instructions like:
- “Add a third story”
- “Extend the building upward”
- “Remove roof and build new floor”
- The building always stays the same height
- It behaves like it only supports cosmetic edits, not structural ones
- I tested:
- Very explicit prompts
- Step-by-step construction style prompts
- “Priority: building height increase”
- Negative prompts like “no two-story building”
- None of these work.
- Expected behavior: Firefly should either:
- Support structural edits like adding floors, OR
- Clearly warn users that height/structure changes are not supported
- Actual behavior: It silently ignores structural instructions and only edits textures.
- This makes it impossible to use Firefly for:
- Architectural concept design
- Adding floors
- Massing studies
- Vertical extensions
- Please clarify whether this is:
- A bug
- A model limitation
- Or a missing feature that needs to be labeled clearly
- Right now it looks like a bug because Firefly accepts the prompt but does not follow it.
