Firefly seems to constantly ignore the prompts, even when they're concise and clear.

Problem: Firefly ignoring crucial parts of prompts. No collaboration. I spent all my credits and don’t have a usable asset.

Perhaps more of a queen bee than a bug, but a consistent issue I’ve experienced in Firefly is that it seems to ignore crucial parts of prompts. As a potential solve, is there anything to be said for it running a no-credit preview with a chat feature where you could conversationally give direction and, maybe more critically, for Firefly to seek clarification over terms/words to erase any ambiguity before committing to the credit loss of a “render”.

My specific use case: I want to upload a first frame and last frame and have it interpolate between the two; that’s essentially it. Here’s the prompt:

“interpolate as if shot at 120fps and slowed down to 24fps. The video MUST LOOP from the 1st frame to the last frame. The horse's running speed needs to match slow motion/high frame rate slowed down.”

The results, from every engine tested, just gave me a horse and rider in approximately the same style in gallop. Full speed, no looping. I’ve burnt through my allotted 2,000 credits attempting to get this shot for a project, and still don’t really have a useable render that meets my needs.

I’m not going to jump to the conclusion that the current policy of “pay the credits and hope it works” is nothing more than gambling, but I would love for there to be more control and collaboration between the user and the AI. Firefly could ask what about the results are right, and what are wrong, and then iterate from there. Instead, we’re at a stage where we’re feeding quarters into the toy vending machine and hoping it drops what we’ve asked for.

    Hi Jared_RDC,

Thanks so much for laying all of this out.

I can imagine how frustrating it must feel to spend that many credits and still not get the result you were aiming for. What you’re trying to do makes total sense creatively, and your feedback highlights some areas where Firefly could definitely grow.

A setup like yours really shows how valuable more control could be, things like clearer motion settings or better handling of reference frames. These kinds of use cases help shape where the tools go next, so it’s genuinely helpful to hear.

A couple things that might explain why your prompt was so hard for Firefly to follow right now:

    • Looping is only supported in the Ray 2 model: That’s the only model with a built‑in “Loop” toggle. If you were using any other model, Firefly simply can’t guarantee a seamless loop, even with very explicit prompting.

    • All Firefly video models currently generate at a fixed 24fps The frame rate can’t be changed through the prompt, and the system doesn’t simulate high‑frame‑rate capture. So instructions like “shot at 120fps and slowed down to 24fps” aren’t something the model can interpret. Everything is generated at 24fps no matter what.

    • Motion speed isn’t tied to FPS in Firefly Every model is locked to 24fps, then FPS cannot be controlling motion speed, because FPS never changes. So the only thing left that could be controlling motion is the model’s own internal motion patterns, not the frame rate. So true slow motion physics (like a 120fps capture slowed down) aren’t something Firefly can reliably reproduce yet.

Given all that, your prompt wasn’t wrong, it was just asking for a level of precision and control that Firefly doesn’t quite offer yet. Your idea about a no‑credit preview or a more conversational refinement step is genuinely valuable.

I’ll make sure your suggestion gets passed along to the team.

    Thanks.

Thanks for the prompt reply Hajar! Is there any documentation that exists that specify the current limits of Firefly? From a professional standpoint, having a clear list of what’s possible or, maybe more helpful for now, what’s not possible could be extremely valuable!

This could be folded into the aforementioned draft mode, where following the initial prompt, Firefly could start a thread chat that alerts the user that “hey, we can’t guarantee a loop yet, but we could do...” or “we’re stuck to 24fps at the moment, but here’s how we might work around it”.

Separate suggestion: what if giving feedback for bad results refunded the credits? I did lose almost my work accounts 2000 credits attempting to accomplish a task that, at least behind the black box of the machine, was not possible. But I couldn’t know that. (Here’s another vote for a more interactive prompt thread).

Out of curiosity, is the discord channel for firefly a more direct way to give feedback to the engineers designing this?

    Hey @Jared_RDC

I find the most direct way to give feedback is on this forum. As you can see @Hajar Toutsi  is for example an Adobe Employee.

Making the request: Twice is also good. :)

    Cheers
