Question

Firefly won't use reference image

I’ve been trying to generate a video of sands through an hourglass in a static exam room setting. The bot kept ignoring my direction not to pan the camera. I tried starting over, using my reference image of the hourglass in an exam room and prompted to use my exact reference image, but the bot kept putting a different hourglass in a tabletop setting. This is terrible and I want my credits back!

    Hi MINIapolis

    I completely understand your frustration

To shed some light on why the model behaved this way, there are two technical limitations at play here:

    1. Camera Movement: Generative AI models struggle heavily with negative instructions (like 'do not pan'). The AI often misses the 'not' and just focuses on the word 'pan', causing it to move the camera anyway. To lock the camera, it is always better to use positive constraints, such as: 'completely static camera, locked off tripod shot, zero camera movement'.

    2. Reference Images: Currently, the video model uses reference images as a strong stylistic guide, but it doesn't just animate your exact pixels. It attempts to reconstruct the scene from scratch based on its training. This is why it 'hallucinated' a different hourglass and moved it to a tabletop.
