Gemini 2.5 (Nano Banana) is suddenly not available as an image model on the website. I can still use the model in the app, but only if I copy the settings from prior creations that used Nano Banana. What is the problem?

Gemini 2.5 (Nano Banana) has been scheduled for retirement by Google and is no longer available as a selectable model in the Firefly web interface. The official deprecation date is 10 September 2026, which was yesterday. 

The behaviour you describe — still being able to use it in the app by copying settings from prior creations — is likely a temporary side effect of the phased removal process and should not be relied upon going forward.

Gemini 3.1 (Nano Banana 2) and Gemini 3 (Nano Banana Pro) remain available as replacement models and are visible in the model picker.
