GPT Image 2 High charges 80 credits but outputs only ~1K images (1246×848)

I am experiencing a resolution/output issue with GPT Image 2 in Adobe Firefly.

When I generate images using GPT Image 2 with the High quality setting selected, Firefly charges me 80 generative credits per generation. However, after downloading the generated images, I found that the actual output dimensions were only around 1K.

For example, one of the affected images was only:

1246 × 848 px

I spent approximately 1,440 credits on these affected generations before noticing the issue.

I would like Adobe to refund or restore the credits used for these generations, since I paid the highest credit rate but did not receive the expected output.

    Thank you for raising this — it is a genuinely confusing aspect of how GPT Image 2 works within Firefly, and the frustration is understandable.

    The "High" quality setting in GPT Image 2 does not control output resolution. It is an OpenAI API parameter that controls generation quality — specifically detail fidelity, texture rendering, and prompt adherence. Resolution is a separate parameter entirely (which is not exposed as a user controlled parameter in Firefly). This means that selecting "High" produces a more detailed and accurate generation at the same output dimensions, rather than a larger image.

    The higher credit cost for the High setting reflects the additional compute required to generate at that quality level, not an increase in output resolution. Adobe's UI does not currently make this distinction clear, which is what leads to the reasonable but incorrect assumption that High means higher resolution.

    Thank you, this explanation is helpful and clarifies the distinction between the OpenAI API's quality and size parameters.

    However, this highlights exactly why I think Adobe's implementation is misleading. Adobe's own official generative credit documentation currently describes GPT Image 2 as:

    Low resolution – 5 credits
    Medium resolution – 20 credits
    High resolution – 80 credits

    It does not describe these options as Low / Medium / High quality.

    As a Firefly customer, I relied on Adobe's own labeling when I selected the highest tier and spent 80 credits per generation. There is also no clear indication of the actual pixel dimensions before downloading the generated image.

    If “High” only increases generation quality while keeping approximately the same output dimensions, Adobe should make this explicit in the Firefly UI and documentation.
