I am easily at a 95% failure rate when generating video from 2 still images + text with Firefly.
Full disclosure, I am already a reluctant user of generative AI, and Firefly is making it easier to want nothing to do with it! I have tried many times to create 5-10 second videos with the start image and end image + text for the clarification and nuance of story etc.
I usually just get a supremely vague and frustrating, "Something wen't wrong," which is ridiculous enough! WHAT WENT WRONG? It doesn't help that Adobe thinks we want to be told bad news like this from a bunch of cute cartoon creatures they use in the program in a branding capacity. A cartoon goat informed me this time...that it failed, and that's where the details eneded. "Something" is not an acceptable error message from a company as proven and industry leading as Adobe!
Now, if I EVER attempt to put a photo of an adult woman in Firefly, it's a lock it won't work...Adobe seems to have decided that the few creeps, not surprisingly using AI to enhance their creepiness, is a good enough reason to basically not allow females? The program legit makes you feel like a creep as well...for nothing! On that note, the last female I attempted to use in an AI vid was my sister...when she is around 7 years old! I added 2 photos of my sister and I as kids. I thought it would be a really cool addition to the gift I got my father for his birthday on Saturday. Firefly had a cartoon moppy headed thing dancing durubg the render, and then a cartoon goat broke the bad news. I tried so many combos in ratio, frame rate, you name it. "Something Wen't Wrong" is not what professionals want to be told...No, we want/need/demand WHAT WENT WRONG?! At least this allows for troubleshooting with some modicum of intelligence. So what gives???! 🤷♂I tried every algorithm, preset, frame rate, resolution, encoder...you name it, including the 3rd party ones, I tried basically every variance I could think of...The only thing I know, is the rare success I had, was when I made a video of only myself...a male. PS I looked really creepy...they have a ways to go just with the art quality alone! It seems Adobe has gone beyond extreme with their AI Safety tactics...I don't think altruism is the reason though, they just don't want to get sued. Adobe should realize that AI, whether we, as artists/creatives, like it or not, we are going to have to learn it and use it. Adobe has been THE go to for all my visual, artistic endeavors...Now Adobe seems to be creating nonstop programs, instead of their old tactic of a few solid, go to professional programs that work together perfectly.
Hey, I LOVE Creative Cloud, I rememeber buying Photoshop, then Illustrator, oh no, now I need Dreamweaver etc etc. So the convenience and the interworking system design is still wonderful, but at
the rate of AI's growth, especially (unfortunately) within the artistic communities/industries, Adobe needs to dedicate more of their resources to getting Creative/Artistic AI Tech up to even a usuable standard. Currently it can't even handle producing 5 second videos of nothing, truly nothing!
* IS ANYONE ELSE HITTING AWALL WITH FIREFLY?* I am extermely close to just never opening it again...I don't want that, as it would help me greatly to have AI tools such as Firefly be capable of my imminent needs in AI. I don't wanna' be an AI Bro with some boutique 10k plus thosand dollar Gererative AI program, not to mention the supercomputer and render time that's required!
If an Adope rep would like to reach out, I wont say no...but this post is going out to the community. I want to find out if many are going through what I am. Adobe has been the standard for quite some time,,,we are learning that this means nothing, and institutions vanish overnight. I am ONLY pulling for Adobe to get thsi right. I do NOT want to use another system at all. I got my processes. my expertise...I am not about to just start over...unless of course I am forced to.
Thank You, Ben
