Is Firefly can modify a real video ?

Hi everyone,

I’m very curious about what AI technology can do in terms of FX effect for movies or else, how far can you push it etc...
I’m trying to use Firefly but since most of its fonctionalities aren’t free I need ton understand some things before.

I see that Firefly can generate image and video from nothing with a prompt
But can it modify an existing video (colors, camera movements, adding elements etc… ) ?
Exemples :
1) I shoot a video of an actor, its a scene where his role is casting and launching a fireball, can I upload the scene and ask firefly to add a fireball in his hand and make him throw it ?
2) Another scene with two actors, shoot by day in a forest, can I ask Firefly to make it like it was nightime, change colors and add some trees in the background ?

If it’s possible, is there a tutorial on how to do that ? And does it requires a specific subscription ?
If not, is there any other AI that can do this kind of stuff ?

Thanks you all

    Hi LuukSkyly,
Thank you for bringing your question in.

Before jumping straight to the answer, let me clarify: generative AI is all about trial and experimentation. Errors can happen, as well as results that may not match expectations.

I thought the best way to address your question was to experiment myself, share the results, and leave you to apply your own judgment.

    Text to Video:
I tested with an 8‑second video of a bear in the forest. Using the Text to Video feature, you can upload your video, select the model Runway Gen‑4 Aleph (Partner Model), and enter your prompt. You’ll see how many credits will be deducted next to Generate.

    Edit from Text to video

The limitation here is that the edited video will only produce a 5‑second output. This applies to both Text to Video and Boards. I’ve attached the results below.

    Boards:

After trimming my original video to 7 seconds (since the reference file must be under 32MB), I selected the model I wanted to use and entered my prompt.

    Edit from Boards

I’ve attached those results as well.

    Summary:

Yes, Firefly can edit your videos, but there are certain limitations, such as the duration of generated videos and the size of uploaded files.

All of these generations require a subscription. Here you can compare all Firefly plans.

And here’s a useful link to tutorials created by our experts, including Text to Video: https://adobe.ly/4bxmfHf

I hope you find this useful, and you’re welcome to come back with any other questions.
