Overwrought censorship

I recently tried to generate an image of a pansy flower. Firefly wouldn't do it -- the word "pansy" apparently violates its guidelines.

Really? A flower?

What other perfectly useful and legitimate words have been purged by the thought police?

Correct answer Nancy OShea

"I recently tried to generate an image of a pansy flower."

===========

Try replacing 'Pansy' with 'Viola' (same flower family).

Or use another flower like 'Primrose' or 'Petunia.'

Uh, no.

When you're writing a blog about growing pansies, a petunia won't do.

As a workaround, I had to upload a photo of pansies (Adobe stock library still recognizes the word) and tell Firefly to follow the composition closely. It seems like a ridiculous extra step, though, after many failed efforts, and I think products like Firefly should take a more conservative approach toward censoring language.

When you are writing a blog about growing pansies, you'd better have real photos of real pansies in it. Otherwise your readers would probably feel not well with that.
