P: Not sure why my images "violate guidelines" (image depicts children)

I attempted to generate video from two different photos of a man and his mother and a family walking in the woods. Both were immediately rejected. Then I used Firefly to generate an image of a man holding his daughter and tried to use that, but it was also rejected. I've attached these images here. I can find no reason that the system would reject these on a content-level. So any thoughts you have would be appreciated.

UPDATE: as of March 19, 2026

While Firefly models and most partner models have restrictions that do not permit children to be used in keyframes in video generation, the Runway Gen-4.5 and Kling 2.5 Turbo do allow children in keyframes.

Firefly image to video will not generate videos from images of children. This is a restriction in the beta version.

I am a photographer and I was really excited to try adobe firefly on some sports portraits that I have taken. I uploaded one of my favorite images from a recent shoot and I added smoke and edited.... I wanted to make the smoke move but got the following message:

Can't load

We can't process this prompt because the reference image
doesn't meet our User Guidelines.  You can upload another
image and try again.

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with the image???

Hey @michaels78909240

It could be that the image is hard for Firefly to determin what the image is exactly.
It is a very cool image. It's just a bit dark and smoky. (Just an observation.)

The glove over his face could also be causing some "confusion" for Firefly.

Consider making the image clearer and brighter.

Cheers

I generated an image of a manga girl with long hair using Firefly, and I wanted to animate the hair with the video generation. However, when I upload my image and start the generation, a message appears saying that the uploaded image does not comply with Firefly's guidelines. I find it strange that you allow me to generate an image, only to then tell me that it doesn't meet your parameters.

Hello @Michele22690682924h,

It is a limitation of the Firefly video beta that it will not generate videos from keyframes containing children.

Hello @elygraf,

Thank you for your message. I am sorry you are having this problem.

The beta version of image to video will not generate videos from images containing children. That is why it would not generate the videos. It is a cautious approach to ensure the model is ready for depicting children from images.

I kept trying to have Firefly generate a video of my younger twin sisters dancing ballet. Today is their birthday and I have a photo of them in their tutus, but Firefly refuses to make the video.  There is NOTHING obscene about the photo. It is of my sisters when they were 10 years old in their tutus.  What gives?

It reminds me of Generative Fill when I was trying to fix a blurred finger in a portrait I was editing and it woouldn't allow it because it thought the image was obscene.

It's quite impossible to upload anything. There is nothing in the user guidlines that refer to this image. It's just an image of three kids...

Ok ... children can never be a part of Adobe products?
