Scenic Art Potential

Hello! I'm a Thespian fresh out of school and into the job! 

I often do work painting large flats or walls a lot, and ironically, the longest phase of the process is the visual planning.  Many of the features are fantastic for stylizing your art, though it would be great to have a feature that compliments or aids a scenic painter's planning process. The Trompe L'oiel does a good job of providing levels of depth that are easier to paint at large scale; however, more often than not, the images get too complex (especially when you pile in the details into the prompt). 

Is there a feature or setting that allows for identifiably easier layers?
