Question

Ugh! The new Firefly gives unpredictable results!!!!!

Try it: find any image in your generation history from before the new Firefly site (with Nano Banana). With the exact same prompt and parameters. The images are nothing like they were before.

I'm in the middle of a project and I need the old version. How do I get access to it?

Hey @digitaltwist

Just to add a bit more to what @daniellei4510  has mentioned already.

I have been finding Adobe Boards to be more consistant.
There is a bit more involved though:
Having a Reference image or Style Image helps significantly.

By selection the Composition Image and adding a prompt the results are relatively consistent.... (depends on FF though). The presets are amazing for keeping the original image consistent.

Thanks for chiming in. As you can see from my image upload, I'm using Composition Reference image and Style Reference image. The problem I'm having is that the images generated since November 24 don't look anything like the previous ones. It's as if something changed under the hood and it compeletely ignores the Style reference image altogether. It doesn't matter if I choose Art or Photo or Auto, either. Something is definitely up.

Hey @digitaltwist

You are welcome. I have been making a Kale character for about a year. the character has evolved with no change in prompt or reference image.

this is definitely frustrating especially when you have a good "seed"

I have had to go back and recreate characters or images.
As long as I had a starter image: Reference or Style I was set (kind of... it was never the same).

Here's the kicker... I had to keep playing with the prompt, the sliders, and starting over until I got a "Good Seed".
No 2 images are exactly the same.

As mentioned, Firefly Boards does provide a bit more consistency.

Cheers

Nate

Try it: find any image in your generation history from before the new Firefly site

That's the nature of AI. The same prompt will generally produce different images. If you want to keep it as close as possible to the original image, use the original image as a reference.

To gain access to your old version, go here from the Firefly home page.

Yes, I'm using my generation hisory.

Try this: find something from your generation history from say 2 months ago. Tap on in to load it into the new firefly. With the exact same prompt and exact same setting (visual intensity, reference & style images, sliders exactly as before). Using any of the models, including Firefly 4 or Firefly 3, the images generated are NOT EVEN CLOSE to what they were, even a month ago. See my example from the post above to see what I mean.

images generated are NOT EVEN CLOSE

And they never will be. Prompts in Firefly are going to give you different results, even with the same prompt. That's how most AI programs work, except for the Gemini 2.5 and 3 and the Flex models (there may be others). I use a reference image in Gemini 3 when I want to edit the details of an original image. Here, for example, I wanted improvements to the woman's fingers and told it not to change anything else. (Not usually necessary, but it can help with larger, uncropped originals.)
