Question

When generating images through second-party models the credits get deducted from the account, even if the image isn't generated and an error message is returned instead.

Very often Gemini will give an error instead of an image. The credits get spent, regardless of whether it returns an error or an image. I expect to receive an image, or not be charged if there’s an error. The failure rate is well above 80%.

    Hi Liam23681790ma9r,

Thank you for flagging this. I’m really sorry about the constant errors you’re running into. I know how frustrating that feels.

Unfortunately, the system has been experiencing unusually high activity lately, especially for Gemini models, which can temporarily block new generations from going through. The issue has already been escalated, and the team is actively working on stabilizing things.

As per your credits: they’re deducted as soon as you click Generate, but if the generation fails with an error, those credits are automatically returned to your balance.

For your own reference, you can also view a full breakdown of your activity by going to Your Stuff > Generation History. This page shows each generation and the number of credits used, which makes it easier to compare with your current balance.

If you’re still certain that some credits weren’t restored after a failed attempt, we can absolutely double‑check that for you. Just share the date and approximate time of the failed generation, and we’ll review it on our side.

Let us know, we’re here to help.
