Why is "hands to the sun" forbidden?

I am trying to generate images for Litha, a sacred day when we worship the longest day  of the year with bonfires and general sun worship. I was warned that "hands to the sun" is not allowed and similar phrasing is also not allowed. Is... paganism not allowed??
