Internal Courses Only

How do I set up courses only visible to a specific user group? We want to build courses for internal training only. No other registered learner should be able to see the course. I am assuming User groups are how I can set this up, but am not sure.

I found the documentation on this task nowhere. It's hard to know the answer when unsure of the question. It turns out that I could accomplish what I needed by creating a User Group of the learners I wanted special access to, then setting up a catalog of the unique courses and publishing that to just those users. I wanted to post the solution here in case anyone else needs it.
