Question

Let learner choose between the (V)ILT or recorded version

Does anybody have a good mechanism how to create a course (or other setup) whereby the learner can choose between joining the (V)ILT training OR the recorded session of this Training?

If then the learner choose the (V)ILT, then the recorded video doesn't need to be watched.

If the learner didn't join the (V)ILT, then the recording must be watched.

We've looked at using the Testout mechanism: As Testout shows up in a different Tab for the Learner, the learner won't see the content. The Tab is really not obvious in the GUI. It should show it in the main course module list as "Optional".
We also looked at the "Mandatoty Modules" option, but because this only select the total amount of modules you have to do, not the specific modules, when uploading more than 2 modules in this course, its not for sure that the (V)ILT OR Recording is chosen.

The only option we can find is to make the recording of the (V)ILT training available as Activity Module URL, linking to an external video platform. When the URL is then clicked, ALM will see that the module is completed (watched or not), which creates a kind of optionality to it (people who’re present at the (V)ILT can just click and go to the next module instantly, other can continue watching the video-or not). Not ideal, as we would like to see how much % people watch videos, which can only be done when the video is uploaded into ALM.

Does anybody have any other good ideas on how to accomplish this?
Tnx

Hi,
There are two options as per your use case which you can try on your end.
1. Add two modules one with VILT and the other with the video and make the course completion unordered and one mandatory module to complete so that the course completion happens if the learner takes the VILT session module or watches the video module.

2. The other option is to create two separate instances in the course and add VILT in one instance and add recorded video in the other instance. So when learners visit the course they will be given an option to select either of the instances to enroll (either the VILT instance or the video instance) and complete the course.
I hope that helps, please feel free to write to learningmanagersupport@adobe.com in case you have any questions or want to connect on call to discuss more on setting up the course, we will be happy to help you out.

Hi Anupam, thanks for your quick reply.

Option 1 only works when having just 2 modules, correct? when having more then 2 modules, lets say 1 VILT and 2 video recordings, then this option won't work.
I like option 2 and need to try this out. Thanks
