To: Prime Tech Dev Team - Prime feature request - set custom report end date

Hello to the Prime Technical Development team & fellow admins.

Since my learning program is very young (which includes Prime) I often get requests for learning transcripts for a particular time period. Currently when running an Excel Report --> Learner Transcripts Prime does NOT have the ability to allow you to select a custom end date (defaults to TODAY).

My feature request is to allow admins to run learner transcript reports with a custom end date.

Mukul,

Thank you.

In this use case I would be unconcerned if a learner is "in the middle of completing a course". It would be more about the accuracy of the reporting period while still in Prime versus manually getting to that time period by manipulating data in Excel.

Regards,

Thomas

Hello Thomas,

Need to understand this more.

In case Prime provides you a way to customize "To" date to a past date, the transcript which gets exported, will carry the current statuses of the users. Will this really solve the purpose of reporting quarterly progress to your management.

Example:

Tom has enrolled in a course and has reached 50% completion progress on 31 July 2018.

Tom later completed this course on 5th August 2018.

On 8th August 2018, Administrator plots a transcript report - From - 1st July 2018 - To - 31 July 2018

In this report, Tom's entry will mention that he has completed the course. Date of completion - 5th August.

Thus even if you plot a report between 1st July to 31st July, still you don't see Tom's progress as on 31st. You will see Tom's progress 'as of today'. This is because you plotted the report today, 8th August. Hence report says, Tom completed the course.

Is this on the expected lines? What's your take on it.

Hello Thomas,

Would like to understand more ..

What kind of learning information/ records you wish to export when "To" date is a past date? and why?

Hi, Mukul.

Thanks for responding.

Use case:

Let’s say that I send a quarterly report to my managers about how many courses learners have taken.

But, the beginning of the month is busy – and I don’t run the quarterly report until we’re 8 days into the new quarter.

Now, when I run the report, I have to manipulate the data in Excel to exclude the 8 extra days to get the accurate dates for the previous specific quarter.

Rather than selecting the appropriate end date for the report while I’m in META (huge time saver for any Prime admin I would imagine).

Does that help?

Regards,

Thomas

Exporting report on a later date will export the report with progress, statuses as on later date (i.e. today). Hence in any case you wont have clear idea of the status, progress of learners exactly on the quarter end date.
