Question

AME Beta suddenly doesn't recognize CUDA

Yesterday I rendered a timeline to h.264 and AME shows a choice of renderer for either the nVidia 5080 Cuda or Software only. Today, after this update, it shows Software Only.

What happened???

Just confirmed in this latest version, AME does not recognize CUDA until you go to Preferences and select CUDA acceleration.  If you just drop a file into the render queue, it reports Software Only rendering until the settings are changed.

And even then nothing had to be changed. I just had to enter Preferences, noted that CUDA was selected, then the Renderer reported CUDA active.

Build 20 and earlier were broken for CUDU render in ME,  Build 21 fixed it, and it came out this morning…  there is a chance your system background updated ME….  but if you now have version 21, it is fixed, I ran a quick not complex test, and it is now using GPU.

So first I restarted the machine.  Launched AME and it still showed software only.  So I went to Preferences.  Use CUDA was checked.  Clicked OK and the Renderer now showed CUDA acceleration.

    Shouldn’t that be by default?

Looks like I had to visit Settings to make it work.  That’s kind of like the Premier Beta issue where Mercury Transmit doesn’t send to my pgm monitor unless I first visit Settings.
