Exported videos not playing correctly in Quick Time Player

I am using an M1 MacBook Air. I have exported 1080p videos from Premiere Pro using Media Encoder. First, there is no hardware support for H.264. Next, I exported two version of a video, one with H.264 and one with H.265. When the videos were done, I opened them with quick time player and there was no sound. If I open them in something like VLC, the sound plays fine. I did not have this problem when I was on an Intel Mac. I confirmed that Quick Time player was working properly by loading a video that had no issues.

When I used the Intel versions running with Rosetta, the video I encoded with Media Encoder in H.265 would not play in Quick Time player. There would someetimes be sound but there would be no video. The video would play if I tried to preview it in the preview pane in Finder or if I opened it in VLC.

Steps to reproduce:
    1. Exported 1080p video clip from Nikon camera from Premiere Pro beta using the standard preseet of High bitrate for either H.264 or H.265

Result: No H.264 hardware support. Videos would either play with no video or no sound using Quick Time Player. Video played normally in preview in Finder and in VLC.
Expected: Videos to play normally in Quick Time player. H.264 hardware support.
