Question

Adobe Scan 26.0.29 crashes after displaying splash logo on iPad 7th generation runnin iPadOS 18.7.10

Adobe Scan 26.0.29 crashes immediately after displaying the splash logo on several iPad 7th generation running iPadOS 18.7.10. The crash occurs on every launch, before the main interface appears. It also crashes when I signed out of my Adobe Account before (using Fresco) and with WiFi/Network disabled. I deleted the app, hard rebooted the iPad, installed the app from scratch. I have about 7GB of free storage, checked camera permissions. I can provide a .ips file crash report from iPad analytics data.

    Hello Amal,

Uninstalled Adobe Scan, hard reboot of iPad, installed 26.10.15. Issue is still the same, the app crashes after showing the splash logo. I tried it on two different iPads, same behaviour. Find attached the crash report .ips file.

    Regards,
    Patrick for BASE1

    Hi @determined_glamour33e7  @celiafeeney  @BASE1 makerspace

Our development team is working on it and asked to try some steps, since the new version 26.10.15 for Adobe Scan is now available, please try to uninstall the Adobe Scan app from your device (please take backup of your important files), reboot the device and reinstall the Adobe Scan app from the App Store with version 26.10.15 and see if the issue still persists.

Let us know your findings, so we can take it to the closure.

    Regards

    Amal

The issue is not resolved for me. App was deleted from iPad & re-installed, no change, it is still crashing immediately after attempting to open.

Fortunately for me, my files were already backed up, but how is it that you suggest we can back up files in a program that won’t open?

    Same.

Adobe Scan immediately closes and returns to the Home Screen every time I try to open it. The app does not reach the main interface.

    Device: iPad 7th generation
    iPadOS: 18.7.10
    Available storage: approximately 6.5 GB

    Troubleshooting already completed:

    • Restarted iPad multiple times
    • Confirmed iPadOS is current
    • Confirmed no Adobe Scan update is available in the App Store
    • Deleted Adobe Scan and reinstalled it
    • Confirmed sufficient free storage

The problem persists after a clean reinstall.

I am able to use the scan app on my iPhone 17 pro, current iOS 27.0.1, same Adobe login credentials.

    Hi @BASE1 makerspace

I hope you are doing well, and thanks for the detailed report and for sharing everything you have already tried. I’m sorry for the trouble this is causing, especially across several iPads.

To help us narrow this down further, could you also tell us:

    1. When did the crash start, for example, after an update of Adobe Scan or iPadOS, and did the app work before that?

    2. Does it happen on every iPad you have tried, or are there any 7th-generation iPads where the app opens normally?

    3. Do other Adobe apps, such as Acrobat Reader, open normally on the same iPads?

Also, please share the .ips crash report, as it would greatly help us. If you prefer not to post it publicly, you can send it to us in a private message.

Once we have these details, we can share more troubleshooting steps

    Regards,
    Amal

    Hello Amal,

Thanks for your quick reply. Following the answers to your three questions:

    1. The crash started after updating to the latest version of Adobe Scan, before this, the app worked fine.
    2. It seems to be only depended on the hardware. Adobe Scan crashes on 8 different 7th-generation iPads, tested with iPadOS 18.7.10 & 18.7.9 & 17.0.3.
On newer iPads (per example S/N F9DV27X9Y2), the app works fine.
    3. On the 7th-generation iPads, other apps, such as Acrobat Reader or Fresco run without any problem.

I attached the .ips file (renamed to .txt).

    Regards,
    Patrick
