Compression issues

I have been using Adobe scan premium on my Android phone for over a month with no issues. Just recently, my scan file sizes are much to large to be practical and when I use the app to compress them it doesn't even make it 1mb smaller. For example if my scans are 20mb, even the highest compression type would only make it 19.1mb. in the past it would have reduced it to about 5mb. I have all of the AI features off, black and white only, using the same phone scanning the same papers I always have. Please help because as of now I'm paying for something that I can't even use. Thanks

Correct answer Amal.

@cody_8550 thank you for your patience, this issue has been fixed in one of our updates. Please update the application to the latest version available on Play store and reboot the device once.

Hi there,

Hope you are doing well and sorry to hear about the trouble with file sizes in Adobe Scan.

A couple of things you can try to get the compression working properly again:

1. Clear the app cache/data: Go to your phone’s Settings > Apps > Adobe Scan > Storage, then clear cache (and if that doesn’t help, try clear data). This can refresh the app without removing your documents saved to your account.

2. Re-sign in and re-sync: Sometimes logging out and back in refreshes your subscription features like compression.

If the issue persists after these steps, please share the version of the Adobe Scan App and the OS with a sample scan file so we can check if this is happening at our end.

Hello Amal,

I tried those things, and there was no change. There is no setting in the app for image quality however I have all AI features off and also have it black and white. I have had this issue ever since the last update. Ive attached a scan example, phone information, android information and app information.

For the scan, it is 9.9mb, when I compress it it gets reduced to 9.1mb. In the past, it would have easily compressed this file to 3.5mb or even less. With this app no longer being able to compress the scans, I can't use it. My scans are regularly too large to email/share etc which does not work for me. Please let me know what you come up with.

Thanks

Amal.

Hi there,

Thanks for sharing the sreenshots, would you also share a small video recording of the steps you are taking to reduce the file size via Adobe Scan App.

Adobe Scan uses the best-quality images from your phone's native camera and compiles them to create a PDF file.

This is the primary reason the file size increases with the number of pages on the PDF.

You can change the quality of captured images from your device's settings-> camera. Once done, capture images using the Camera App on your device and then import them to Adobe Scan to create a PDF.

Hope this will help.
