"Device storage full"

Question

Hello, my Adobe Scan app gives me an "Device storage full" error when I try to save my scan. I went to my iPhone settings and deleted more than enough apps, leaving about 4 Gb of free storage but the error persists. It is quite a big scan, it took me about an hour to make, I do not want to quit the app and lose all my progress. Is there anything I can do? It seems like the app hasn't registered the fact that I just cleared up my storage.

In general, I don't understand why the files are being saved on my device in the first place. They are supposed to be stored on the cloud which I am paying my subscription for. So far the customer support has been anything but helpful
