Question

Fix Google Drive's API Scope

Since the new "Copy to" functionality was added, is there a way to report a "bug" to the Adobe Scan staff ? The App shouldn't use https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive as scope to request access to "See, edit, create, and delete all of your Google Drive files" but instead https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file to "See, edit, create, and delete only the specific Google Drive files you use with this app"

Hi @Joseph001852,

Thank you for writing in!

Usually, Google Drive API calls cannot identify files created specific to Adobe Scan, so complete file access is requested.

This is a similar scenario for every other app or website that requires Google Drive access to store your files.

If this is not what you are referring to, please brief us more on the topic, and I will escalate it to the dev team for review.

Thanks for the quick update !

I thought the file was tagged with the app that created it, implicitly.

There's a bug report about requesting permissions to a specific folder (https://issuetracker.google.com/issues/36760598) which if I recall correctly, was possible with v2 API (e.g. old Scanbot app).

@Joseph001852 Thanks for the details.

I have logged a ticket for the dev team to look into.

I will update the thread once I hear back from the team.
