Is the scanning algorithm for Adobe Scan still actively being updated?

I’ve been a loyal user of Adobe Scan for many years, but recently I noticed that some newer tools are actually producing cleaner and sharper scanning results compared to Adobe Scan.

I’m curious to know if the core scanning and image-processing algorithm for Adobe Scan is still actively being improved? Specifically, are there plans or ongoing updates for features like shadow removal, color correction, and text sharpening?

I really love the app and the ecosystem, so I hope to see the scanning quality updated and kept competitive with newer tools. Any insights from staff or the community would be greatly appreciated!

      Thanks for the kind words about the app, and great question.

      Yes, the scanning and image-processing pipeline is still actively being updated. A few recent examples from Adobe Scan's release notes: the Magic Eraser tool was enhanced to automatically detect and remove fingers and shadows in one tap, the AI-powered Straighten feature got curvature-correction improvements for pages where not all edges are visible, and on-device OCR added support for more languages. So shadow removal, color correction, and sharpening are all areas that have seen ongoing work, not features that have gone stale.

      That said, if you're seeing specific cases where a competing tool clearly outperforms Adobe Scan (for example, a scan with heavy shadow or poor lighting that Scan doesn't clean up well), it would genuinely help to share an example image here. Concrete before/after comparisons are much more useful to the team than general feedback.
