TITLE: Adobe Scan - create PDF and TEXT files via OCR

This is a basic request. Additional information can be see in ticket: message/10623461#10623461. I am requesting adobe scan, in addition to creating a PDF, (which I can already do without Adobe) have the ability to generate text base documents via OCR processing? Having the option to either create a PDF or deploy the OCR scan for text extraction (or both). Foot note: the added function for OCR processing should include the option to scan existing PDF document or hard copy document. Today I use a product called: INSTASCAN which is OK, in fact it’s more than good, but I would prefer to consolidate under the Adobe suite. INSTASCAN allows me to scan the full document (PDF or Hardcopy) or just one section. It also recognizes an address or business information and will post the results to my address book. It’s a small, light weight product that does all the basics and not a lot of extras, but it’s KICK-ASS.

How would you like the feature to work?

Really this up to you. Perhaps scan with an option to preselect a section or full document.? Offer an option for PDF or OCR. It should save local, Apple Cloud, the Google drive or Dropbox if you must. Providing a means to open the document in PDF reader, text editor,  or HTML would be a plus. Please do not limit to the Google suite if opening in browser. Some of us do not use any part of google. Selecting additional browers such as DUCKDUCKGO or IE would be a plus. Simply put, google is scary and I do not trust them. Unfortunately some apps only allow google browser to be selected. That’s frightening. In this case I do not used these apps. Please do not drink the google cool-aid. Keep your application independent of the AMWAY, nix that, GOOGLE Is what I intended to say. Much like AMWAY, where power is maintained at the top via a pyramid (with little regards to the little people). Google is attempting to do the same, that is, POWER POWER POWER at the expense of your personal information. An unsolicited, unwarranted, and unaware collection of all of your personal data. While they are not necessary a pyramid, they are a public trading corporation with power maintained at the top. It’s the price you pay for free services.

Why is this feature important to you?

I suspect this is important to many users; otherwise why would apps like INSTASCAN be doing so well. Adobe has a large market, loyalty is important to keep this market share. So...since you started the Adobe Scan project, I need you to finish it with OCR processing. Maybe one day you could bundle it with Adobe Reader. How cool would that be.

It’s important to me because I use OCR a lot in my daily work. It allows me to take sections of the document and merged the text with architectural designs, without having to retype. Plus I can save it off and later find it through a key word search.
