Hello there,

I have the following question: when I use the scan documents function with adobe scan (premium account) I get PDFs with a lot of MB (100 page documents result in 195 MB PDFs!!). Is this "normal"?

In the past I have used adobe scan to convert single JPGs into PDFs and the resulting PDFs never had so many MB.

I would be very thankful if someone could help me out here.

Best wishes

Franziska

Hi @Franziska28437627i8x8,

Hope you are doing well. Per the description, you want to understand the storage usage of Adobe Scan.

Adobe Scan uses the best-quality images from your phone's native camera and compiles them to create a PDF file.

This is the primary reason the file size increases with the number of pages on the PDF.

If this is not what you want, you can change the quality of captured images from your device's settings-> camera. Once done, capture images using the Camera App on your device and then import them to Adobe Scan to create a PDF.

Hope this clarifies your question.

I need to reduce the file size somehow - 2-3 black and white pages are coming in with file size of 5-6 MB.  Not sure why and I don't see any way to reduce the settings to default Black / white, lower resolution, file type, etc.

Hi @Ariel2733688342g3,

Hope you are doing well. Sorry for your experience with Adobe Scan.

Adobe Scan, by design, makes use of the best quality your device's camera can capture and then process them to create PDFs.

If you want to have an image with a lesser file size, I'd suggest capturing the image using your base camera application with a lower resolution, then importing them together in Adobe Scan to create a PDF from them.

Hope this helps.

We have used Adobe Scan for some time, scanning documents & adding images from phone library to create a PDF uploaded to the Document Cloud.  Recently we have noticed file sizes which have for years averaged 2-5mb in size are now uploading at 35-50mb in size.  This is completely dumb founded as the whole idea around PDF's are sharable size files.  Downloading such large files, takes time, and then compressing each file in order to email is also very time consuming.  After the PDF has been compressed with Adobe DC, every file opened then produces an error message of; Cannot extract the embedded font ‘CZPHIT + HelveticaNeueLTStd-Bd-SC700.’ Some characters may not display or print correctly.”

Adobe, PLEASE assist with reverting back.  Online Technical chat results in getting passed around & around with no resoultion.  Every setting inside Adobe Scan does not allow amendment of file compression.

Hello Ashish,

I hope you are doing well. As per the above description, I understand that you are concerned about Adobe Scan's file size.

It depends upon various factors s to how the size of the scan will be determined, for example, the lighting and the details of the document.

You may also refer to the link for more information: Manage Scans — Adobe Scan for iOS

I hope this answers your question.

Thanks,

Souvik.

buenas tardes. Se puede modificar el peso de un archivo? Me salió de 220.86 Mb y requiero que sea máximo de 100 Mb. O como le hago para que desde el principio me salga máximo de 100 Mb?

Hi All

How do you scan a document at 100 greyscale using the app?

Or reduce the file size of the document scanned?

Hi,

Sorry for the delayed response.

In the Adobe Scan application, there is no option to make changes to the presets.

However, by default, the color mode preset contains the "Greyscale" option in the Adobe Scan application.

Let us know if you are referring to something else.

For more help : https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/adobescan/android/en/scan.html#adjust-the-color

To compress files you can use Adobe Reader Mobile.

To compress a file.

  1. Open Acrobat Reader mobile app.
  2. Tap on the home icon.
  3. Click on three dots... in front of the file.
  4. You will get the compress PDF option.

Hi Manohar5FE2,

Hope you are doing well.

Thank you for posting your query here. Please help me with few details to understand your issue better.

  1. Application version?
  2. Make and model of your device?

To modify the dimensions of a file, open it in Adobe Scan> Tap "Modify" > Tap " Resize". Or if you mean the size it will occupy on your device storage memory, then you need to use Adobe Acrobat on Desktop to optimize the file.

For more help refer to: https://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/adobescan/android/en/workingwithfiles.html#modify-existing-scans

Let us know how it works at your end. If you have any further queries please feel free to reach out to us.

Hi MAYRA0D4D

Hope you are doing well.

Thank you for posting your query here. You can use resize option in Adobe Scan. While in Review mode, you can resize pages on any or all scanned pages.

  1. Navigate to the page you want to modify.
  2. Tap Resize.
  3. Repeat as needed for other pages.

Let us know how it works at your end. If you have any further queries please feel free to reach out to us. We would be more than happy to assist you.

Ria
