Drag transition not working in Adobe XD

Hello,

I have set up a drag transition bewtween 4 artboards, but it only works in one direction. I wired them for ot to go 1-2, 2-3, 3-4, then back 4-3, etc. But when I drag, it only goes in the 1-2 direction, won't go back 4-3, etc.

I had set up a dummy file based on the tutorial video & it worked.

I've spent hours tryingh to get htis to work.

TIA

Good Morning,

I'm sorry, I mentioned the wrong video, it is 03. The video shows how to set up Drag Gesture (Transition?); and at the 3:22 mark Dani explains how to do the return (back) gesture. I'll have to check with my PM if we can share our design.

Hey - sure, you can do it between 2 artboards no problem. As soon as you add a 3rd or more though, you will start running into issues 🙂

It's the middle ones that are problematic, since you can choose to go from 4 to 3, then 3 to 2, and back from 2 to 3 again. Xd needs to determine the direction you're dragging in so it can snap to the right artboard or state. It's just that you're wiring the drag interaction to only go to one particular artboard, and no matter how you drag it will always go to the one wired. If we had "Drag Left" or "Drag Right" as separate interactions, which you could wire to different artboards, then it would work as it should. But we don't have that, unfortunately.

Hey there. Unfortunately, that's a limitation of Xd. You can't have 2 drag triggers on the same element, dependent on direction. Depending on the situation you can hack it a little bit, but it's inconsistent and unreliable if you want to simulate 100% how it's going to work.

Can you please link the video tutorial you followed? What's the difference between the example and your case?

Usually you can set the drag interactions in one direction on the artboards, and have another drag interactions on the slider group itself that goes the other direction, but they can conflict each other on some artboards and nothing happens.

Hi @defaultmj1yqn9vy0zk,

Thank you for sharing the video link. The video is about adding overlays on your artboards. The video doesn't show any "Drag: transitions. It shows all the "Tap" interactions on different artboards.

As Spas rightly mentioned, you can apply Tap, Drag, Hover, and Time triggers once, and VoiceKeys & Gamepad many times.

Could you please share the screenshot of your design in Prototype mode so that we can see the workflow and interactions?

We will try our best to help.

Thanks,

Harshika
