Question

17.0.1 and MacBook Pro 16 Inch Hardware Rendering / Encoding

Should we expect hardware rendering to be working flawlessly on MacBook Pro 16-inch models? For me specifically, is the AMD Radeon Pro 5500M fully supported?

I noticed that 17.0.1 successfully fixed the garbled preview but, today, I tried to enable Mercury GPU Acceleration (Metal) in the project settings and saw garbled results (similar to the garbled preview in 17.0) when rendering in AE.  I am noticing the same garbled experience in Adobe Media Encoder 2020 when using hardware acceleration.

Is this expected? I could not find any notes on this in the Known Issues list.

Hi peterh47267367,

Sorry to hear that you're running into this problem when rendering in After Effects. Can you confirm if you experience this while rendering to all the formats?

I don't think that this is expected. Let me check this with the After Effects team.

Thanks,

Rameez
