2 SSD's - Assets and cache locations best practices

Hi all

I have bought a second SSD with the aim of increasing performance.

Quick question, what is the best setup?

Scenario 1

SSD 1 - AE file, cache and renders

SSD 2 - Assets only

Scenario 2

SSD1 - AE file and Assets

SSD2 - Cache and renders

Im thinking scenaio 2 is better, as if SSD2 is unplugged I would still be able to edit without there being missing assets. What do you think? Does anyone have a better setup.

Before anyone suggests it... im not buying a 3rd... im not made of money haha!

My setup for both desktop and laptop are...

Main computer hard drive (C drive) - OS and Program Files

SSD1 - Assets and AE files / Premiere Pro files

SSD2 - Cache files

And yes, when I forget to plug in SSD2 AE and PPro automatically revert to the default cache location. For my SSD1 I'm currently using an NVME ssd which has been super fast.

What drive are you rendering/exporting to?

I should have been clearer, SSD1 is my internal drive, and SSD2 is an external SSD.

I usually export to my SSD1. Based on what you mentioned in your response I belive Adobe reccomends putting your media and your pointing your cache to your SSD2.
