2 windows showing when i preview in AE 2020

when i previw my composition, a screen pops up on top of my comp and its really annoying. how do i stop this. see the attached screenshot of my comp playing. The white is the composition color and the grey is the video playing. This only happens with After effects 2020.

This is a known bug on some systems and the forum is littered with the solution. GPU acceleration which you set in the Project Panel>Advanced tab and enabling Rulers (Ctrl/Cmnd + r) usually fixes it.
