Question

3d camera import - supported formats

There's a simple question that seems impossible to answer (at least for me).

Is there a way to know all the formats supported for importing 3D cameras into After Effects?

I think that C4D, .ma files, or .jsx (via a Blender add-on) are the only ways, but I'm not completely sure. Are there any other methods?

Is there a place where I can find documentation on how to import cameras using these three methods?

FBX, GLB, and OBJ are supported by After Effects, but only for geometry, right?

Thanks in advance! I hope someone can help me with their knowledge.

Thanks!!

    Thanks for writing in @yg75151261,

You can import the camera and lights with the 3d models. Here’s how: https://helpx.adobe.com/in/after-effects/using/extract-and-animate-cameras-and-lights-from-3d-models.html#camera-layer

Let me know if there are any other questions.

    Thanks,

    Nishu

Thanks!!!! It worked with the GLTF file, but the focal length animation was lost. Do you know if that’s a bug? Would another file format work better?

I can investigate that. Can you share the GLTF file you tested? Also, which application did this GLTF export from? Feel Free to DM me the file if you prefer not to share it publicly. You can click my profile name to send me a DM.

    Thanks,

    Nishu
