3D comp not showing as 3D when placed in another comp

Okay so I admit I am just a week into learning AE but something has me confused. I created a comp that is 3d. Then I used that 3d comp in another composition and when I place the original 3d comp in the new comp the items are not showing as 3D, they are flat. What am I missing?

    You have to activate the Collapse Transformations button in the Timeline Panel for that layer. Check the attached image.
