3D LAYER DARKENS WHEN 3D MODE IS ON, INSTEAD OF STAYING THE SAME COLOUR AND BLENDING TOGETHER AS ONE, WITH THE OTHER 3D PICTURE

I am creating a 3D space nebula world with particles, I have two space pictures which I want to blend together as a 3D video,

but I am really stuck because every time I turn on the 3D mode on my second picture, it turns darker and doesn't blend well with the first 3D picture!

This video shows exactly the point I am stuck on, but for some reason, this guy manages to do it properly! Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

He applies the 3D layer at 5:05

I think this is a transfer mode issue.  Click F4, to reveal the transfer modes (click F4 again to see the 3D toggle), and set to multiply, or overlay, or add....  try one of them.

That's what I think the problem is.

The two layers which you have Transfer/Blending Mode applied need to be placed higher up the layer hierarchy — layers with Transfer/Blending Modes require layer(s) beneath them in order to work as expected. It looks like only one of your layers is getting its mode into play while the other, since it's the lowest layer, it has no layer with which to transfer its mode onto. Make sense?

You're following a tutorial done by a high school kid?  That's your problem right there.  Find another tutorial on this technique.  One done by a pro.

Check that you have Accepts Lights (and Accepts Shadows too) disabled for the offending layer.

Hi Roland,

thanks for the advice! Accept light and shadows were actually on for both layers so I turned them off for the second layer and that still didn't!

When I turn the 3D layer on for the second picture, I've noticed that it doesn't stay in the original screen blend mode which I applied before adding the 3D layer. Instead, it almost goes back to a normal blend and covers the whole of the other picture underneath it! Also, when that happens, Ihave tried to drag down the z-axis and the same picture goes behind the other picture!

Here's a picture so you can see what I am dealing with!

What happens when you turn off the Draft 3D feature?
