3D Spiral Text Overlayed on an Image

Question

Ss there a way to expand the "boundaries" of a 3d layer?

I want the text to spiral over the image but want it to be behind certain parts of the image like the briefcase, right arm, etc. I've tried adjusting the scale, rotation, everything but nothing seems to work.

Both the text and image layers are 3d layers.

Are you using CC Cylinder to make the spiral text? To get it to interact with the image, you can place it above the image and set to render just the Outside. Then duplicate it and place the duplicate below the image and set it render inside.

To get the spiral to be wider in in the middel, you might be best placed to use CC Sphere instead of Cylinder. This will probably require some stretching of the sphere.

But if you are using an alternative method to spiral the text, I'd need more info.
