Question

3D Tracking, finds some points, but doesn't fix them

Hello,
I have (annoying) problem with 3D tracking:

Analyzing and camera solving works without any warnings. Points are established, (they seem to be quite ramdom though) but they don't really fix into the clip. See the attched file.
Tried this with numerous different kind of clips, but the problem persists.

I am getting rather desperate with this...

Thank you so much for the help in advance!

I see a couple of things that may be going on here. First, and this probably won't fix anything, but your Untitled Project has not been saved, and that is the first thing you should do when you start a new project.

Second, the Average Error in the 3D Camera Tracker panel shows 0.00. This tells me no parallax was calculated and at best you got a tripod pan. The shot is a simple tripod pan, so no depth information will be generated. All that white snow doesn't help.

You might be able to get a better solution if you added some filters to the shot to try and bring out or generate as much detail as you can. When you get the shot modified you pre-compose, then run the camera tracker on the enhanced shot. I do that kind of thing all the time.

Because the shot is a simple tripod pan a better solution may be to motion stabilize the shot, insert your elements, then put the motion back in the shot. If you can explain what you are trying to do in the shot I can probably help you find a solution, but I don't think tracking the camera on this shot is going to work. It's just not very suitable for that kind of analysis.
