4-Color Gradient - Color jump

Heyhey,

I animated an 4-color gradient with similar colors. But now the animation didn't flow, the color jumps on some points (not even the keyframes). Just to make this clear: it's not a bending problem.

AE 23.5.0

MacBook Pro, Apple M1 Max, Ventura 13.4.1

In a 3 second comp (16bit) I used 4 keyframes for each color:

Point1: #585D64 / #595D64 / #585C63 / #575B62

Point2: #565B61 / #565B61 / #55595F / #54585F

Point3: #51555B / #505459 / #4D5156 / #4A4D52

Point4: #51555C / #50545B / #50545B / #50555C

To make the problem more visable I added the Alexa default LUT with a contrast of 100 on top

Thanks for your support
Timo

Correct answer Mylenium

There are issues with hardware accelerated encoding (nothing new, unfortunately) and if this is ProRes or such it could be affected. Try another image format. Otherwise there are limitations due to how the effect calculates the interpolation and some colors will just always flip-flop, especialyl when the points are so close. It may be a better idea to create the color splotches with separate, heavily blurred layers and blending modes.

Are you still having the issue? Let us know.

I am moving this thread from Bugs to Discussions for now.

Thanks,

Nishu

Thats what I feared. Even if it makes no sense cause other effects are calculating well.
Thanks anyhow
