Accidental key command = wtf?!

Howdy folks, I am working with some 4K footage and was outputting stills to show my team when I went to quit the render and hit a strange key command, command*/ Suddenly I can no longer do anything in any of my windows and I'm seeing the bar very slowly work it's way across the timeline. I feel like it's doing some kind of deep ram preview, but it's moving so slowly and I need to get back to work! I tried quitting and it wouldn't even let me do that. It doesn't seem to be crashed though. It/'s just doing something super mysterious to me! Can anyone tell me what I might have done and how to fix this, short of force-quitting?

That's strange, this shortcut simply adds the selected footage in the Project panel to your active timeline

Strange indeed! I assume I might have hit another keystroke, because I ended up force quitting and found in a render folder a very large quicktime movie which it had been rendereing. Odd that while this was rendering I literally could do nothing to stop it!
