Adding MOGRTs to Libraries is not working how I expect...

Hi All,

So I've built up a MOGRT library that my team uses on many video  projects. We recently consolidated all our Creative Cloud accounts under an umbrella account and that got me thinking about using the libraries feature to share with everyone in my group.

My expectation is that I can create a Library that has all the MOGRTs that I've created and give everyone access to them. Then, whenever I update a MOGRT with new features or requests, I can export that updated MOGRT file to the library and have it automatically update that MOGRT on everyone's machines.

The reality I'm seeing is that whenever I export out the updated MOGRT to the Library I created, it creates an entirely new MOGRT file rather than updating the existing file. It doesn't give me an overwrite or save as copy prompt when exported.

How I'm going about this: In AfterEffects I open my MOGRT and make a change, then in the Essential Graphics panel, I click the Export Motion Graphics Template button in the bottom right . A window appears and I select my MOGRTs library as the Destination in the dropdown, then click OK.

Is there a way to achieve what I'm looking for?

Hi @Gregory-FPS,

This is as designed. When saving to disk, it'll prompt you about overwriting the file. Saving to libraries creates a new copy. If you manually delete the mogrt from the library, you can then export the new version.

The workaround would be to use a server or cloud service to save your mogrts, and everyone on the team can access them via "Manage Additional Folders."

This would be a great feature request if you have the time to write one up.

Cheers,

Theresa

Thank you for your reply Theresa! Much appreciated.

I'll look into the work around you suggested (our current strategy is to use something like Google Drive to host all the MOGRT files, but everyone has to remember to add them in Premiere whenever I update the MOGRT files. It's not terrible, but is something that could be streamlined and I had hoped Libraries was the answer for that.

Right now I was thinking that I could take it upon myself to remember to delete or rename an existing Library MOGRT before I publish any updates so that it is clear which file is the latest version that my team should be using. Otherwise they end up with multple MOGRTs all with the same name, which is very confusing.

I did add this as a feature request as per your recommendation. Thank you again!
