adobe after effects cc 2020 not working on my laptop - 2/20/20

I posted about two months ago I believe about after-effects not working on my laptop. after trying everything commenters suggested, uninstalling and reinstalling multiple times since my first post nothing has worked. I have tried to uninstall and reinstall my third party plug-ins (sapphire, twixtor, pixel sorter, twitch, etc) and nothing is working. I am able to open after effects and create a new comp, pull the video to the timeline but once I go to split clips and apply transitions and effects the app freezes and the screen goes white and will either shut out on its own or restart my laptop. please help!

Hi @blkgothic,

Sorry to hear about the crash issue with After Effects.

Is there any specific action or effect which triggers the crash? What is the exact version of After Effects are you working with? https://community.adobe.com/t5/after-effects/faq-how-to-find-the-exact-version-of-after-effects-you-re-using/td-p/9972137

Try disabling your GPU from the Windows device manager and check if it brings any change. Follow the steps below to disable the GPU:

  1. Access the Device Manager in Windows.
  2. Click the > symbol next to the Display adapters option in the list.
  3. Right-click the Nvidia GPU.
  4. In the pop-up menu that opens, select the Disable device option.

Let us know how it goes.

Thanks,

Nishu

Start by checking the event viewer. This sounds like a serious hard driver crash.

okay, once I am looking at my event viewer, what do I do to try and fix my problem?

(apologies for my delayed reply)
