Adobe After Effects & Premier 2023 Crash Ventura

Hi all,

Pulling my hair out as latest After Effects and Premier are crashing the latest Ventura. I'm running a 2019 Mac Pro. Issue happens on rendering or exporting. In Premier after the latest updates the Export function doesn't work. In After effects, it crashes on pre render auto save or just after a render is attempted. Causes Finder to cease working. Any ideas/fixes would be welcome. Have tried trashing preferences. All Adobe 2022 are running fine with no issues.

thanks,

Steve

The export in PPro is a bug that will be fixed in 23.4, coming out soonish. The bug should be fixed in the current 23.5 beta build.

For AE, it might be worth enabling logging (from the Help menu) and then reproduce the issue. On next start, choose Reveal Log Files (also on the Help menu) and then find the after effects log.txt file and post that back here so we can take a look.

You're welcome. If clearing the cache didn't solve the issue with Premiere's export function, you could try resetting the preferences to their default settings. To do this, go to the Premiere Pro menu, select Preferences, and then choose Reset Preferences on Quit. This will reset all preferences to their default settings the next time you launch Premiere Pro.

As for After Effects, using a newer project could potentially help, as it may not have the same issues as the previous project. If the problem persists, you could try creating a new project and importing the necessary assets to see if that resolves the issue.
Give me a shout, i'll fetch some info to help you out!

Thanks so much for the suggestions. Have just cleared all the caches and attempted an export from Premier. So strange, the export window just doesn't work. Sits blank with a circling blue circle. Am just about to attempt an After Effects Render but will try from a newer project and see what happens. Thanks again.

Hi Steve,

Sorry to hear about the crashes you're experiencing with After Effects and Premiere. Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

  • Make sure your system meets the minimum requirements for the Adobe software you're using.
  • Try updating your graphics card drivers to the latest version.
  • Disable any third-party plugins that may be causing conflicts.
  • Clear the cache in After Effects and Premiere.
  • Try creating a new project and importing your files into it to see if the issue persists.
  • Try exporting or rendering a different format or codec to see if the issue is related to a specific setting.
  • Try resetting the preferences for After Effects and Premiere.

I hope one of these suggestions ceases or at least decreases hair pulling.
Highest regards from the Westcoast,
