Question

Adobe apps do not appear in system information under applications in macOS Tahoe even affect running deep clean and reinstalling

I am trying to install plugins in AE but they crash. The plugin company (red giant) says its because adobe apps are not registering in the MacOS system in the System Information app under applications. I keep running deep clean to erase all adobe things from my system and reinstall the apps. Still won’t register. What to do? AI is no help on this one.

That was the exact error message:

    Error creating directory /

    ***unknown variable

    aesupportfilepath1***/Presets/

    Hi NastyPixel,
I'm not aware of After Effects needing to appear in macOS System Information > Applications for plug-ins to load correctly, so I'd like to better understand what's happening.

    Could you let us know:

    • Which version of After Effects are you using?

    • Which Red Giant plug-in(s) are crashing?

    • Are they crashing during installation, when After Effects launches, or when you apply the effect?

    • Does After Effects itself launch and run normally otherwise?

Also, if Red Giant has any documentation explaining why they believe the missing System Information entry is the cause, I'd be interested in seeing that. Sorry to hear you're running into this.

    Thanks,
    Kevin

That makes 2 of us. I’ve never heard of that being necessary. Here's what red giant says:

The crux of the matter remains that you don't have Adobe listed in your system spec file, which is not normal, is not something that has been seen in Support, and is an agreed upon culprit for why you're having this installation issue.

Everything and I mean everything else on my system works fine. No other Apps are “registered” in system info. This is bizarre to me.

    AE 2026

newest Red Giant Installer using the MAXON app for installation

It acts like a disk permission error when trying to create a directory for Mir3 presets and fails the install completely.

AE and all other plugins including MAXON plug ins install and work fine.

Thanks for the message. Have you checked the permissions for the plug'in's folder? This article may help: https://adobe.ly/4cbrzkG. Let me know.

    Cheers,
