Adobe Media Encoder update and Hardware Acceleration

Hello,

Being one of the many people frustrated with the lack of multi-threading performance in AE I fell off my chair when I saw there was an update available for exporting that would use Hardware Acceleration.

I just bought a new laptop, ASUS Strix SCAR edition with a 6 cores/12 threads processor and a GTX 1060.

I update Adobe Media Encoder.

I sent my work to to AME.

Sadly the hardware acceleration option was not available.

Is there a way to enable it on my machine since it does support QuickSync:

Intel® Core™ i7-8750H Processor (9M Cache, up to 4.10 GHz) Product Specifications

i7 8750H

16GB DDR4

GTX1060

Windows 10 Home

Any help welcome.

This issue has to do with enabling Intel's QuickSync feature and is motherboard/CPU dependent but uses a built-in Intel GPU - confusing eh? ;-)

Have you reached out to ASUS about Intel QuickSync on your system?

Without any info on your actual render settings it'Äs impossible to make an assesment as to why hardware-acceleration may or may not be available. as was already pointed out, it's not a magic trick and this stuff and its optimizations do not work with every combination of settings.

A simple H.264 encoding with default settings.

AME tells me Hardware Acceleration is unavailable on my machine.

The feature is only available in specific render configurations - for example 2-pass encoding is not possible.

Where did you find this information? Upon further reading I think it is because you must have Intel Graphics enabled.

So any computer without integrated Intel Graphics won't be able to use this function.
